Greg, I got an unexpected day off yesterday as Thera and I were admiring the garden that Maura planted in your honor. We decided that we should go to Gloucester and try to find some inner peace. Bill was at the cottage and it was empty for the week. We walked through the cottage and sat on the porch. Your memory filled the house. We saw you in every room: Watching Cheryl prepare us an incredible meal in the kitchen. Helping dad with the dishes. Playing cribbage in the dining room. Blowing candles out on your birthday cake. Rocking on the porch swing with the kids and Cheryl. Holding Becca on your lap as you read the morning paper. Chasing the kids through the house and jumping off the porch. We went to the rocks and sat for a long time remembering all the fun we had in the aquarium and jumping in the churn. We went to the beach remembering you jumping off the bridge with the kids and body surfing in the waves. Chasing the kids on the beach and calling them Rosa Begosa. Stopping cars to cross the kids safely and who stopped, Whoopie Goldberg. We passed the big house on the corner remembering how you made friends with the renters and got us a tour of the house.

Spending time at our favorite place did not lift our sadness. Frank is correct when he says that you left this life at peace. The ones you left behind are trying to find some inner peace in living this life without you. Gloucester is not the same without you. Life is not the same without you. Miss you and love you.

Greg, remember this picture?  This is Uncle David's favorite picture.  Uncle David brought you to have the picture taken and you were running up and down the hall way driving David crazy.  When they were ready to take the picture, you posed, then ran off down the hall.  Little did David know, your picture came out like an  angel.  Oh how looks can be decieving, since I know you locked me in your room on Sat. May 17th!  Oh how I love you, my brother.  I have always and will always adore you.  My bookend, I still need you!

All my love,

Maura

Well, this is not the polaroid...but close enough. This is the great story of Santa. Greg finally convinced me to sit on this man's lap, to get into the holiday spirit. It was really only a short battle, of course, I would do anything for my uncle.  When I got up off of the Santa's lap, Greg told me he knew him to have been accused of rape.  ha ha ha Uncle Greg. It of course, scarred the livind daylights out of me, but Greg was only joking, and I can still hear his laugh ringing in my ears.  I am with two of my most favorite men in this picture (Greg, and my Papa). If you look close, I am even dressed like Greg, with a similar haircut...(I was really into soccer, short hair is better than long hair on the field).  I have always looked up to you Greg, and I always will. I will hold dear all the memories we had together, and hopefully, someday, we will meet again.

I knew Greg for over 20 years. I will always remember his smile and his infectious laugh. Over the years we partied a lot together into the wee hours of the morning, and what rings true for me was that Greg was a loving human being who really cared about others. Seeing him at, and going with him, to Grateful Dead concerts was always a blast. He had a zest for life that was rarely matched. I am really happy that he ended up doing therapy and personal growth work with me. I think he really found inner peace and happiness, which culminated with his reuniting and marrying Cheryl. He died a happy man, and I will always love him. His death is such a shock, but I just keep thinking that he lived his life to the fullest and he would want us all to do the same, and to be a positive force in the world. What a legacy you crazy grinchy!! I love you!
